At Open Source Projects, we recognize that students often need to balance their academic responsibilities with finding part-time jobs that offer more than just a paycheck. That’s why we created the Open Source Part-time Program – an initiative designed to connect students with meaningful opportunities that not only provide income but also help them develop valuable skills and experiences in the open-source world.

Who is it for?

Companies and organizations interested in hiring through the Open Source Part-time Program must submit details about the available role, including the required skills, the duration of the job, the number of hours expected, and the hourly wage.

Employers are also asked to outline how students will be supported and supervised during the job.

Whether it’s software development, data analysis, or project management, students will gain hands-on experience contributing to real open-source projects.

Once a student is matched with an opportunity, the Open Source team ensures a contract is set up that clearly defines the responsibilities, timeline, and expectations for the job. This helps both students and employers stay on the same page throughout the experience.

Students will be supervised by the company, who will also handle payments for the duration of the project.

In addition to offering paid positions, this program gives students the chance to build practical skills in their area of interest while contributing to real, impactful projects in the open-source community.

It’s a unique opportunity to grow professionally, collaborate with industry leaders, and make meaningful contributions that stand out on a resume.

The Open Source Part-time Program opens doors to working in a collaborative environment while allowing students to balance their studies and gain relevant work experience.

By participating, students become part of the broader open-source ecosystem, working alongside experienced developers and contributors from around the world.
